Unicorn Shipping Tankers pass Sire vetting with flying colours
Unicorn Shipping’s tankers (MT Breede, MT Kowie, MT Umgeni, MT Rhino, MT Inyala and MT Lavela) recently underwent the six-monthly SIRE vetting inspection.
SIRE (Ship Inspection Report Programme) is completed by the oil majors to confirm that the vessel is of a suitable standard. The focus is on vessel safety, cargo operations and training of the vessel’s crew to ensure the safekeeping of all on board, and the conservation of the environment.
The crew of the Breede and Kowie achieved a perfect score of zero observations and the Umgeni passed with flying colours with only one observation noted. The Rhino and Inyala both passed with only two observations noted and the Lavela with only three observations noted.
Unicorn’s average observation for 2017 is 1.33 per SIRE vetting compared to the industry average of 3.01 observations per SIRE vetting, which is a great result and shows the continued commitment of all on board.
